单词 alised
释义

alisedadj.

Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: English *gehlīsod.
Etymology: Origin uncertain. Perhaps the reflex of an unattested Old English *gehlīsod < y- prefix (compare a- prefix2) + Old English hlīsa sound, rumour, fame, glory ( < the same Germanic base (without dental suffix) as list n.1) + -ed suffix2.Compare Old English hlīsful ( < Old English hlīsa + -ful suffix), hlīsig ( < Old English hlīsa + -y suffix1), hlīsbǣre ( < Old English hlīsa + -bǣre , suffix forming adjectives with the sense ‘productive of, having, bearing’: see new-bear adj.), all in sense ‘renowned, famous, of high repute’. With the variant readings in quot. c1300 compare alose v. 2.
Obsolete.
Renowned, famous, of high repute.
