Etymology: < cryo- comb. form + -scope comb. form, after French kryoskope (A. Boutlerow 1881, in Bull. de l'Acad. Impériale des Sci. de St.-Pétersbourg 27 282).
Chemistry.
An instrument used in cryoscopy, esp. to determine the amount of water in milk.
