1883 Times 30 Jan. 7/3 One of these novelties, a device for attaining increased power in the propulsion of the machines when a hill has to be ascended or a bad bit of road to be crossed, is called the crypto-dynamic two-speed gearing, of which Mr. W. T. Shaw and Mr. W. Sydenham are the joint patentees.
