Of a rock or its texture: consisting of crystals of a number of different mineral species which formed simultaneously from a melt in chemical equilibrium.Such a texture is found in some schists and other recrystallized metamorphic rocks, and contrasts with the textures resulting from the successive crystallization of mineral species such as occurs in igneous rocks.
