Of, pertaining to, or named after the French naturalist Georges Cuvier (1769–1832); characteristic of his methods or system of classification. Cuvierian ducts, two short transverse venous ducts in the vertebrate fœtus and in fishes which return the blood from the cardinal veins to the sinus venosus of the heart; the common cardinal veins. Cuvierian organs (see quot. 1897).
