Origin: Probably formed within English, by derivation. Or perhaps formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: already adj., -ness suffix; all adj., readiness n.
Etymology: Probably partly < already adj. + -ness suffix, and partly < all adj. + readiness n. N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (ǫlre·dinės) /ɒlˈrɛdɪnɪs/.
Obsolete.
The condition of being fully prepared; alacrity, full readiness.
