Etymology: < Greek κύκλωσις encircling, < κυκλοῦν to encircle, to move in a circle.
1. Biology. A term (proposed by C. H. Schultz in 1831) for the circulation of latex (milky juice) in the vessels of plants; also applied to the circulation of protoplasm in certain cells.
