Origin: A borrowing from Russian, combined with an English element; modelled on a Russian lexical item. Etymons: Russian aleut , -ian suffix.
Etymology: < Russian aleut (see Aleut n.) + -ian suffix, after Russian aleutskij (1747 as †aleuckij ). Compare French Aléutien , adjective and noun (1822 or earlier), German aleutisch (1775 or earlier). Compare later Aleut n., Aleut adj.
