Etymology: < (i) Middle French delectable (end of the 13th cent. in Old French; French délectable ), and its etymon (ii) classical Latin dēlectābilis pleasant, agreeable < dēlectāre delight v. + -bilis -ble suffix. Compare earlier delightable adj.This word was originally stressed on the first syllable (still so stressed in Shakespeare).
