Etymology: < Delphi place name + -an suffix.
Of or relating to Delphi, a town of ancient Greece on the slope of Mount Parnassus, and to the sanctuary and oracle of Apollo there; hence, of or relating to the Delphic Apollo; and transferred oracular, of the obscure and ambiguous nature of the responses of the Delphic oracle.
