1902 A. R. Diefendorf tr. E. Kraepelin Clin. Psychiatry 152 Dementia praecox is the name first applied by A. Pick, in 1891, to a group of cases including the hebephrenia of Hecker and Kahlbaum, characterized by maniacal symptoms followed by melancholia and rapid deterioration.
