Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin dēscriptus, dēscrībere.
Etymology: < classical Latin dēscriptus, past participle (also used as adjective in sense ‘organized or arranged’) of dēscrībere describe v.With sense A. 3 compare the following sense of classical Latin dēscrībere: ‘to trace out (on a surface)’, used by Vitruvius of a design engraved on a column. In use as noun after nondescript n.
