Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: de- prefix, sex n.1, -ing suffix1; desex v., -ing suffix1.
Etymology: Partly (originally) < de- prefix + sex n.1 + -ing suffix1, and partly (in later use) < desex v. + -ing suffix1. Compare earlier desexualization n., and later desexualizing n.
The action of desex v. (in various senses). Also: an instance of this.
