Origin: Either (i) formed within English, by derivation. Or (ii) a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: digitalis n., -form comb. form2; Latin digitalis , -form comb. form2.

Botany.
Having the form of a finger; (esp. of the corolla of a flower) shaped like the fingers of a glove, as in the common foxglove ( Digitalis purpurea).
