Etymology: < the name of Rev. J. Dickinson (1835–99) of Redding, Connecticut, who collected specimens of minerals, including dickinsonite, from this area + -ite suffix1.
Mineralogy.
An uncommon yellowish green or brownish green phosphate mineral typically crystallizing in brittle translucent plates or flakes.Dickinsonite is a hydrous aluminium phosphate of variable composition, containing sodium, manganese, and ferrous iron. It is a minor component of some granitic pegmatites. Crystal system: monoclinic.
