In some forms of Mahayana Buddhism (esp. that practised in Tibet): a supernatural being that acts as a guardian of the dharma and its adherents.In Tibetan Buddhism, dharmapalas are of two kinds: manifestations of enlightened beings, and unenlightened beings acting under magical constraint.
