Phillips New World of Words (new ed.) Diaporesis, a doubting, a Rhetorical figure, in which there seems to be a doubt proposed to the audience before whom the Oration is made. [So in later Dicts.] 1844 J. W. Gibbs Philol. Stud. (1857) 215 Aporia..called also diaporesis. The Latin term is addubitatio.
