Etymology: 14–16th cent. Scots disheriss , as if < extended stem of an Old French *disherir to disheir, which may have been used in Anglo-Norman. The corresponding English form would be disherish ; the form in -ize suffix is due to confusion of verbal suffix: compare advertise, amortize.
