单词 discourtesy
释义

discourtesyn.

Brit. /dɪˈskəːtəsi/, U.S. /dɪˈskərdəsi/
Forms: see dis- prefix and courtesy n.
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; apparently modelled on an Italian lexical item. Etymons: dis- prefix, courtesy n.
Etymology: < dis- prefix + courtesy n., apparently after Italian discortesia (a1494; quot. 1555 appears to translate an unidentified Italian source). Compare Middle French discourtoisie (1584; 15th cent. as descourtoisie; French discourtoisie), Old Occitan descortezia, Spanish descortesía (end of the 13th cent.). N.E.D. (1896) also gives the pronunciation (diskōə·ɹtesi, -kɒ̄·ɹ-) /dɪsˈkɔətɛsɪ/.
Rude or inconsiderate behaviour; impoliteness; an instance of this.
