Etymology: < disc n. or its etymon classical Latin discus + -ous suffix. Compare post-classical Latin discosus (1714 or earlier). Compare earlier discose adj.
Botany. Now rare.
Of a (composite) flower: having a disc (disc n. 7a). Cf. discoid adj. 1.
