Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: disagree v., -ance suffix.
Etymology: < disagree v. + -ance suffix. Compare earlier agreeance n. and disagreement n. Compare also disagreeing n.Compare Old Occitan dezagradansa ‘disagreement’, and perhaps also Middle French desagreance in uncertain sense, perhaps ‘degradation’ or ‘disapproval’ (c1350 in an apparently isolated attestation).
Now somewhat rare.
