Of or relating to a group of relatively primitive anuran amphibians (frogs and toads) having ribs in the adult and a rounded non-protrusible tongue; esp. of the family Discoglossidae. Cf. discoglossoid adj.The family Discoglossidae (sometimes called Alytidae) is now generally restricted to the painted frogs (genus Discoglossus) and midwife toads (genus Alytes) of Europe and North Africa.
