Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: dis- prefix, consider v.
Etymology: < dis- prefix + consider v. (compare consider v. 9), perhaps after French déconsidérer (1790). Compare earlier disconsideration n.
transitive. To lower in regard, bring into disrepute, discredit. Usually in passive. Cf. consider v. 9.
