释义 | dissogonyn. Zoology. The phenomenon found among the Ctenophora, in which there are two periods of sexual maturity in the same individual, one in the larval and another in the adult form. ΚΠ 1896 R. Lydekker Royal Nat. Hist. VI. 477 In at least one species (Eucharis multicornis) sexually mature larvæ, or larvæ which are capable of reproduction as such, also occur; these, when completely developed, become once more capable of reproduction as adults;—a method of multiplication which has been called dissogony. 1906 Cambr. Nat. Hist. I. 419 To this series of sexual phenomena the name ‘Dissogony’ is given. 1911 Encycl. Brit. XVI. 224/2 The larva becomes sexually mature and lays eggs;..it then loses its generative organs and develops into the adult, which again develops reproductive organs (dissogony). 1940 L. H. Hyman Invertebrates I. viii. 677 All the ctenophores are hermaphroditic, and many have two periods of sexual maturity, one in the larva and a final one in the adult, with a degeneration of the gonads between the two phases.
