Etymology: Middle English < Old French destorbler , -turbler , -tourbler , < des- dis- prefix 1a + torbler , turbler , tourbler , early forms of trobler , troubler trouble v. ( < Latin *turbulāre , < turbula , turbāre ). In the simple verb, the form trouble was from the first prevalent; in the derivative, des- , disturble was the earlier form, and (supported by disturb v.) survived to c1500, when it yielded to distrouble v.
Obsolete.
