Origin: A borrowing from Scottish Gaelic. Etymon: Scottish Gaelic dòrlach.
Etymology: < Scottish Gaelic dòrlach fistful, sheaf of arrows, quiver, bundle, kind of bag used by Highlanders in the army (Early Irish dorlach, of uncertain origin, perhaps < dorn hand, fist (cognate with Welsh dwrn, in the same sense, further etymology unknown) + -lach derivative suffix, of uncertain origin).
Scottish.
1. An archer's arrow; (hence) a bag or case for holding arrows, a quiver. Obsolete.
