Formed by or consisting of dots and dashes (in various senses of dot n.1 and dash n.1); esp. designating the Morse alphabet (see Morse n.3), or a message transmitted using it. Also in extended use. dot-and-dash line n. a line written or printed as a repeated sequence of alternating dots and dashes, usually in order to distinguish it from other, dotted or solid, lines; cf. dotted line n. 1.
