Often added to the title so enjoyed, as princess-dowager, queen-dowager, dowager-duchess, dowager-queen, dowager-lady, etc.Apparently first used of Mary Tudor, widow of Louis XII; then of Catherine of Arragon, styled ‘Princess Dowager’.
