单词 amazed
释义

amazedadj.

Brit. /əˈmeɪzd/, U.S. /əˈmeɪzd/
Forms: Old English amasod, early Middle English amaiset, early Middle English ameaset, early Middle English–1600s amased, Middle English– amazed, late Middle English amaced, late Middle English amasud, late Middle English amasyd, late Middle English–1500s amasid, 1500s–1600s amayzed, 1600s amaysed.
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: amaze v., -ed suffix1.
Etymology: < amaze v. + -ed suffix1. Compare slightly later bemazed adj. and mazed adj.In early use the adjective typically occurs in predicative uses (compare bemazed adj. and semantically similar adased adj.), while amaze v. is frequently attested in use as past participle, which can make adjectival and verbal uses difficult to distinguish. With sense 3 compare later amaze v. 2.
