单词 effronted
释义

effrontedadj.

Etymology: < French effronté, Old French esfronté (= Italian sfrontato ) < late Latin *ex- (ef-)frontātus , < (*ex- ) ef-frons , < ex out, without + frons forehead + -ed suffix1. (The Latin frons occurs in the sense of ‘ability to blush’, so that effrons probably meant ‘unblushing’; compare browless, frontless. Some, however, suppose the lit. sense to be ‘putting forth the forehead’.)
Obsolete.
Shameless, barefaced, unblushingly insolent.
