In later use also: a bony prominence located next to the medial condyle of the humerus, or the lateral or medial condyle of the femur (at the knee joint).Frequently with modifying word (in lateral epicondyle and medial epicondyle) distinguishing an epicondyle attached to either the lateral or medial condyle of the humerus or femur.The medial epicondyle of the humerus was also called the epitrochlea (French epitrochlée).
