Etymology: scientific Latin, < Greek ἐπιπόδιον , neuter of ἐπιπόδιος , < ἐπί upon + πούς , ποδός foot (see -podium comb. form).
1. Zoology. A muscular lobe developed from the lateral and upper surfaces of the foot of some molluscs.
