Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French outremarcher.
Etymology: < Middle French outremarcher (14th cent. or earlier; < outre beyond, excessively (see outrance n.) + marcher march v.2), apparently with alteration after enter- prefix.
Obsolete.
1. intransitive and transitive (reflexive). Of a deer: to run in such a way that the hind feet fall either between or beyond the prints of the forefeet.

2. intransitive. Of two people: to touch or intertwine feet (as a surreptitious form of amorous behaviour); cf. to play footsie at footsie n.1 2.
