Etymology: < enthronize v. + -ation suffix, probably after Middle French, French intronisation act of enthroning a bishop (end of the 14th cent.), act of enthroning a ruler (beginning of the 16th cent.) and its etymon post-classical Latin inthronizatio, intronizatio act of enthroning a bishop (5th cent.; frequently from 12th cent. in British sources), act of enthroning a ruler (11th cent.).Compare Spanish entronización (first half of the 16th cent.; c1400 as intronización).
