enticev.

Brit. /ᵻnˈtʌɪs/, /ɛnˈtʌɪs/, U.S. /ᵻnˈtaɪs/, /ɛnˈtaɪs/
Forms: α. Middle English–1500s entyce, entyse, Middle English–1600s entise, (Middle English entythe, 1600s entize,) Middle English– entice. β. Middle English intisce, Middle English–1500s intyce, intyse, 1500s–1600s intise, Middle English–1700s intice.
Etymology: < Old French enticier (in Old Northern French enticher ) = sense 1; the etymological sense was probably ‘to set on fire, add fuel to (a fire)’; apparently representing Latin type *intitiāre , < in- (see in- prefix1) + *titius (classical Latin titio ) firebrand.
