Philosophy.
An advocate of any of various theories asserting that the quality and interpretation of a person's evidence for a belief is the primary factor by which that belief is justified; (Theology) an advocate of the argument that the order inherent in nature proves the existence of a creator. Cf. evidence n. 6c.
