Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek ἀναγραϕή.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ἀναγραϕή act of inscribing or registering, (in medical context) prescription, in Hellenistic Greek also register, record < ἀνα- ana- prefix + γραϕή writing (see graph n.3). Compare earlier anagraphy n.
Now somewhat rare.
