Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin antebrachium.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin antebrachium (1696 or earlier in anatomy; 14th cent. denoting a piece of armour protecting the forearm) < classical Latin ante- ante- prefix + brachium arm (see brachium n.). Compare antebrachial adj.
Anatomy.
In tetrapod vertebrates: the part of the arm or forelimb from the wrist to the elbow; the forearm.
