Etymology: < post-classical Latin antelation-, antelatio precedence, priority (from 15th cent. in British and continental sources) < classical Latin antelāt- , past participial stem of anteferre to carry in front, to give precedence over, prefer ( < ante- ante- prefix + ferre to carry, bear: see bear v.1) + -iō -ion suffix1.
Obsolete. rare.
