An act of expelling or driving out.Perhaps merely a typographical error: found in editions of 1575–1593, but repulse restored in that of 1603.

Etymology: < Latin expulsāre, frequentative of expellĕre : see expel v. Compare French expulser.
Obsolete.
transitive. A synonym of expel v.; sometimes expressing more strongly the notion of violence. Very common in the 16–17th centuries; now Obsolete, though casual examples occur in 19th centuries Const. from, out of; also with double object by omission of from.
a. with object a person, etc.: To drive or thrust out from a place; to eject, evict from a possession or holding; to turn out of an office, community, etc. Cf. expel v. 1a, 2.
