(1894) gives the following example, labelled absol.:1849 in Notes & Queries 1 Dec. 72/1 Still I'll love the fairsome (why?—For nothing but to please my eye); And so the fat and soft-skinned dame I'll flatter.Attributed to Sir John Suckling and dated a1641 in Notes & Queries, it is in fact a misreading for faire one taken from an anonymous mid 17th-cent. manuscript.

Chiefly archaic. Now rare.
