Etymology: < ana- prefix + ancient Greek τόπος place (see topos n.) + -ism suffix, after anachronism n.
Esp. in a work of art or literature: the action or an act of situating something in the wrong place; an error in geography; something belonging to another place. Often coupled with anachronism, which is much more common. Cf. anachorism n.
