Etymology: Partly (i) < Middle French, French festin (1382 in an isolated attestation in Middle French, subsequently from 1527; probably originally < feste feast n. + -in -ine suffix4, and in later use < Italian festino ), partly (ii) < Italian festino (1563 or earlier; < festa feast n. + -ino -ine suffix4), and partly (iii) < Spanish festín (1580; < French festin ). Compare festino n.2
