1. A child of a brother or sister of either of one's parents; a cousin with whom one shares one or more (typically two) grandparents; = cousin n. 1b. Cf. cousin-german n. 1.A first cousin with whom one shares a single grandparent is sometimes known as a half cousin, while a first cousin with whom one shares all four grandparents is sometimes known as a double cousin (see double cousin n. at double adj.1 and adv. Additions).
