Compare earlier filmi geet n. In use as noun with reference to music (see sense B. b) probably short for filmi geet n.

Of or relating to the Mumbai film industry or the films produced there; characteristic of these films, typically in being flamboyant, sensational, or romanticized; spec. designating or relating to a type of popular music used in the soundtracks of these films, typically a blend of traditional Indian classical and folk music and Western pop (see filmi geet n.).
