Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; perhaps modelled on a German lexical item, or perhaps modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: anemo- comb. form, -graph comb. form.
Etymology: < anemo- comb. form + -graph comb. form, after either German Anemograph (1802 or earlier) or French anémographe (1788 or earlier). Compare earlier anemography n., anemometrograph n.
An instrument used to make a graphical record of the speed and duration (and sometimes also the direction) of the wind in a particular location over a given period of time. Cf. anemometrograph n.
