Etymology: < classical Latin anfractus curved, bent (see anfractus n.) + -ure suffix1. Compare earlier anfractus n.In use with reference to a kind of fissure (compare e.g. quot. 1857) perhaps sometimes associated with fracture n.
Obsolete.
A winding or sinuous course; a turn, a bend, a tight curve; a convolution; an uneven fissure or crevice. Cf. anfractus n.
