Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin annex- , annectere , -ive suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin annex-, past participial stem of annectere (see annex v.) + -ive suffix.Compare post-classical Latin annexivus (1523 or earlier).
Grammar. Now somewhat rare.
Having the function of connecting two semantically related words or clauses. Also: characterized by the use of such connection. Cf. conjunctive adj. 3b.
