Etymology: < classical Latin annōnārius of or concerned with the corn supply < annōna corn supply, provisions, also (as Annōna ) goddess of the harvest ( < annus year (see annals n.) + -ōna , suffix also seen in Pōmōna Pomona n.) + -ārius -ary suffix1.Compare Middle French, French annonaire (1546), Italian annonario (a1580).
Of or relating to provisions; (in later use) spec. concerning or contributing to the supply of provisions to a city, army, etc.
