Etymology: < French angiotenique ( P. Pinel Nosographie philosophique (1798) 14) < angio- angio- comb. form + ancient Greek τεν- , stem of τείνειν to stretch (see tone n.) + -ique -ic suffix.
Medicine. Now historical and rare.
Designating fevers believed to arise in distended or irritated blood vessels.
